Gua sha is a healing technique of that uses a small, smooth instrument to work the affected area. This is often a special spoon, but there are many different types of Gua sha instruments.
The spoon is pressed, stroked, or scraped along certain pathways, muscle groups, or other areas to specifically improve the flow of blood in the area and release any knots or tension.
Research has found that Gua sha can have an anti-inflammatory effect which helps to point to why it is useful in pain management.
While Gua sha is often used for pain, stiffness, or to improve the healing of old injuries, it can also be used for issues like fever, chill, cough, wheeze, nausea and vomiting. For more information about Gua sha, contact us here.
